The Tarsar Marsar Trek is a popular trekking route in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The trek takes you through some of the most beautiful alpine lakes, high altitude meadows, and breathtaking landscapes that the Himalayas has to offer. The trail which starts from Aru in the Pahalgam valley to the east of Srinagar, passes through pristine mountain terrain of the Kashmir Himalaya, offering stunning views of snow-capped mountains, deep valleys, and lush green forests. We pass through three magnificent lakes on this trek - Tarsar, Sundersar and Marsar - each of them glittering in various shades of blue and green, which is a treat to the eyes; and hiking beside them a soothing experience for the soul.

Show Detailed Itinerary
You will be received at the Airport and we drive to a Hotel in Srinagar City. We have free evening for briefings, last-minute packing etc. Overnight Hotel
The trail from Aru to Lidderwat is a 10 km journey that takes 4-5 hours to complete. It starts with a climb straight out of the village, following the Lidder River. The trail passes through fir trees, clear streams, open grasslands, and pine clusters. The endpoint is Lidderwat, a beautiful meadow with a few Gujjar huts. Overnight Camp
We start the day's trek with an hour and a half of ascending moderately steep section, after which a stunning view of the wide-sweeping grasslands and towering mountains opens up. We then cross the river and climb the trail to Homwas. From there, the trail continues to climb through undulating meadows to Shekwas camping grounds, passing by an old cluster of Silver Birch trees and breathtaking views. Overnight Camp
Today's trek through the lush green meadows, which we start by climbing a small ridge high above the stream after which the trail climbs steeply to a high-point offering incredible views. Two more hours from there, a narrow glimpse of Tarsar lake appears, a delightful sight which refreshes you. We then walk on rolling terrain for the last section to our campsite. Overnight Camp
The trek to Sundarsar is via a short pass which is also called the Tarsar Pass by some. Apart from the short climb to the top of the pass, the day entails walking on expansive yet gentle mountain slopes with multiple streams enroute. Overnight Camp
Perhaps the longest of the trek but one where exhaustion is compensated by wonderful landscape. After multiple short ascents and descends on rolling hills, we navigate a boulder field after which we get a glimpse of the expansive Marsar Lake, an awe-inspiring sight at 3800m. After soaking in the sights of Marsar Lake to our heart's content, we descend down to Homwas. Overnight Camp
A day where we are mostly descending down towards civilisation through meadows and small chinar jungles to a the road-head at Aru, from where we board the vehicles to drive to Srinagar. Overnight at Hotel
We drop you to the Airport and say our good-byes! Trip ends.
