This is a classic trek for trekkers keen to discover the outdoors and experience the mighty Himalayas at high altitude. “Bugyal” in the native language stands for a “high altitude meadow”. Dayara Bugyal & Bedni Bugyal are listed among the few largest and well known meadows in the Garhwal Himalayas. Situated at an elevation of 3048m, Dayara Bugyal is second to none in natural beauty. On the onset of winters they transform into ideal ski slopes over an area of about 28 sq km. A ropeway from the road head at Barsu to the ski slopes has long being promised by the state government. In the summers the meadow is used for grazing by the local as well as some pastoral communities who bring their sheep, horses, buffaloes & cattle.
The panoramic views of the Banderpunch and the Gangotri range seen from this meadow are simply breathtaking. The meadow also supports a rich floral diversity.

What to expect

Any trip rated as a 'Beginner Trek' is an ideal first step into the world of trekking in the Himalaya. The trips are short - generally under a week - in moderate altitudes with gradual altitude gain. A typical day will involve 4-5hrs of hiking on mountainous trails with an odd day over 6hrs. Most beginner treks in the Indian Himalaya are camping trips where overnight accommodation will be in tents. You will be accompanied by our camping and kitchen staff throughout the trip. In Nepal, all our stay and accommodation on the trail will be in tea-houses.

This trek suits individuals looking for their maiden trek in the Himalayas or families which want to introduce their young ones to trekking.
