Travelling through a fragile natural ecosystem such as Himalayas, brings in its own set of responsibilities. No matter the mode of travel through the Himalayas , so as to protect and respect the environment , its imperative to adhere to the good eco friendly practices.
We at WhiteMagic Adventure are committed to being environmental caretakers and seek to attain high standards of `minimum impact tourism'.
Believing in the philosophy “Take only Memories , Leave only Footprints”, we ensure that clients who travel with us are also sensitized environmentally.
The Environmental Pledge below encapsulates the mantra we follow to maintain the ecology which we have inherited from our fore fathers and would love to pass on to the future generations.
OUR PLEDGE...
- Disposal of Non-biodegradable Garbage: We believe in leaving the campsite cleaner than we found it. We follow a strict protocol to collect all non biodegradable litter and dispose that at the proper sites .
- No Plastic policy: We will discourage the use of plastic bags and make our clients also aware about it.
- Preserving the Cleanliness of Local Water Resources: We do not permit the use of cleaning agents for utensils in streams and springs. We ensure that all the toilet facilities are pitched at least 30 metres from the source of water source.
- Preserving the Flora in their own habitat: We discourage the clients not take away seeds and roots and other rare plants ,that are illegal in many parts of the Himalayas.
- Contain Deforestation: We will not create open fires and discourage others from doing so. Firewood being a scares resource, we will only use kerosene or solar powered means to cook and heat up the water
- Check on the Tourist Traffic: We will make conscious efforts to limit the tourist traffic to the eco-sensitive areas so as to limit the human impact on the nature.
- Cleanup Drives: We will organise clean up drives and collect the left over trash on the trails , so that the eco system rejuvenates and does not die.
- Respecting Local Cultures: We will advocate tolerance and preservation of local religious beliefs and culture . We will maintain the sanctity of the religious places and dissuade the trade of rare religious objects or heirlooms.
- Boosting Local Economy: We make sure that on our treks we buy the local produce and employ local people , so as to return back what we have received from the region.
We firmly believe that we need to evolve, innovate and think out the means which can minimise the damage to the natural environment. Or else we will be heading for a concrete jungle.
